Obituary of Nettie Jean Gailey

It is with great sadness that the family of Nettie Jean Gailey announce her passing on July 11, 2022 at the age of 62. Born February 24,1960, in Sussex, New Brunswick, she was the daughter of the late John Gailey and Helen (Ganong) Gailey.

Nettie was a very kind and giving person. Not only did she give to her family but she was always donating time to the seniors, the Sussex Activity Centre and the Royal Canadian Legion Sussex Branch #20. Nettie loved playing Animal Rescue League Bingo on the radio every Wednesday night to support the animals. Over the years, Nettie and her partner Myles attended many country concerts and took many trips to Toronto to visit family, which she loved to do. She also enjoyed camping, picking blueberries, bowling,  gardening, country music, attending local benefits, and watching sports, especially baseball and hockey. More than anything, Nettie loved her fur babies and they are going to miss her dearly.

She will live on in the hearts of her loving partner Myles MacAuley; her children: David Gailey of Musquash and Terry Chappell (Penny) of Saint John; her siblings: Pearl Douthwright of Sussex, Sydney Gailey of Kierstead Mountain, Edward Gailey of Millstream, and Lois Simpson of Fredericton; her sisters – in – law Mary MacKay of Summerfield, and Shirley Bettle of Brandon, Manitoba; Myles' daughter Tanya Hawkes (Travis) of Penobsquis; grandchildren Samantha Beach (John) of Lower Millstream and Mikayla Hawkes (Mark) of Waterford; great grandchildren Claire, Grace, Mila, and Aiden, her special friend Nancy Millican; her fur babies Tiggy, Sport, Angel, and Sandy; as well as several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Along with her parents, she is predeceased by her brothers: George Gailey, Aubrey Gailey, and Howard Bettle; her sister in law Bonny Gailey; her brother in law Earl Douthwright; her niece Krista Douthwright and her nephew John Gailey.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, NB (506-433-1176), from where visitation will take place on July 14, 2022 from 4-7pm. A service celebrating Nettie's life will be held at Wallace Community Chapel on July 15, 2022 at 11:00am. The interment will take place at Union Cemetery, Head of Millstream, NB.

As an expression of sympathy donations made to Paws and Whiskers or the memorial of the donor's choice would be greatly appreciated by the family.

The family would like to express their deepest thanks to the nurses at the Sussex Health Center and the Sussex Extra Mural for their kindness, care and compassion, it will never be forgotten.
