Obituary of Mary Chambers

Mary Elizabeth Chambers was born in Medford, Victoria County on March 19, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Joe and Blanche (Grosette) O'Neil and was the wife of the late George Chambers who passed away in 1983.

Mary was a former employee Canada Packers, Barbours, McCreadys and HB Industries. She always said that raising her children was her greatest accomplishment. She enjoyed her old friends, african violets, gardening, baking, playing bingo and crossword puzzels. Among her favorite places were Perth and Cedar Camp. She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Roman Catholic Church. She had a strong faith and a love of people. 

Mary is survived by her daughters: Lucy Smith of Picadilly, Blanche Chambers of Sussex Corner, Marilyn Fuller and her husband Denis of Sussex, Nina Smith and her husband Bev of Sussex, Georgina Patterson and her husband Amos of Sussex, Patricia Fudge and her husband Fred of Waterford;  two sons:  Elmer and his wife Sheila of Waterford, Bryant Chambers of Sussex Corner; two brothers: Wallace O'Neil and his wife Bessie of Pocologan, Norman O'Neil and his wife Betty of Nova Scotia, three sisters: Ora Ryan and her husband Walter of Florida, Georgina Layton and her husband Jim of Miramichi, Hilda Hiscoe of Perth Andover; ten grandchildren: Don and his wife Karen, Heather and her husband Tom, Greg and his wife Ange, Chris and wife Darcy, Dwayne and his wife Lynn, Joey and his wife Laura, Shane and his wife Crystal, Shellley and her husband Jeff, Angela and her husband Derek, Trevor, 13 great grandchildren: Jeremy, Matthew, Ben, Parker, Michaela, Brigett, Marcus, Brady, Abigail, Devin, Joshua, Jared, Ashley; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Mary Elizabeth Chambers of Sussex Corner, passed away at the Sussex Health Centre on March 11, 2008 at the age of 81. 

Mary was predeceased by three brothers: Bernard, Raymond and Marvin and by two sisters, Nellie and Ann-Marie; and by her son-in-law, John Smith; 

Arrangements have been entrusted to the compassionate care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176) where visitation was held on Thursday, March 13, 2008 from 2-4 and 7-9pm.  

A service celebrating Mrs. Chambers’s life was held from Wallace Community Chapel on Friday, March 14, 2008 at 11:00 am.
