It is with great sadness that I'm reading of Eric's passing. I wish we had of stopped and talked more than we did as he and I shared many similarities in our lives. We both did auxiliary police work. Eric with the RCMP and myself with the Town of Sussex. We both became truck driver's. We both plied our profession all over North America and Western Canada finally settling in closer to home but still answering the call of the road. He will be missed and thought of often by many. The write up of Eric was dead on. He was such a kind, quiet and gentle soul. I sort of looked forward seeing him come home on weekends from trucking. He'd always greet me with a "hey Rod. What's you up to". He was my next door neighbor. Although I'm very saddened to know he's not here now, I'm definitely keeping him and his pleasant memory forever in my heart. We were devastated to hear of Eric's passing. I met Eric in 1992, when as a very young constable with the RCMP, I was posted in Sussex to start my career as a Mountie. Eric was the first one to volunteer to show me the area I would be patrolling and we just hit it off and became great friends. He was a real friend and was dedicated to his family and his community.
