Obituary of Joe Mercer

It is with heavy hearts the family announces the passing of  Mr. Joseph “Joe” Mercer of Sussex who passed away at the Sussex Health Center on July 30, 2022 at the age of 75. He was the son of the late Hazen and Ida “Snowie” (McConnell) Mercer.

He will live on in the hearts of his loving wife, Pat; his children: Derrick Mercer, Scott Mercer (Laurie), Holly McKiel (Bill) and Joe Mercer (Nicole); his brothers: Wayne Mercer (Joyce), Ron Mercer (Deborah), Bard Mercer (Cheryl) and Trent Mercer; his sisters: Jennie MacDonald (Ralph), Paulette Mitton (Bob), Bonita Lackie (Eddie), Brenda Mercer and Pamela McDermott (John); his sister-in-law, Shirley Mercer; his grandchildren: Felecia, Cheslie, Joseph, Derica, Mercedes, Cheyenne, Chris, Bella and Kiaer; his great grandchildren: Joselen, Natalie, Logan, Shardelle, Justine, Alexander, Abbigail, Paige, Noah, Liam, Tyson, Zoie, Paisley and a great granddaughter on the way; as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Along with his parents, he is predeceased by his brothers: Earl and John and by his in-laws: Curtis and Vera Dennison.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176) from where visitation will be held on Sunday, August 7, 2022 from 6-8pm. A Celebration of Joe’s life will be held from Wallace Community Chapel on Monday, August 8, 2022 at 2:00pm. The interment will take place in Trinity Cemetery, Sussex Corner.
