Obituary of John Hay

It is with great sadness the family of John Beverly George Hay of Sussex, announces his sudden passing, which occurred on September 23, 2022 at the Sussex Health Center.  Johnny was a loving husband to Patricia (Quigiey) Hay of 60 years.  A son of the late George and Marion (Proctor) Hay.

John was a loving father to his daughters: Linda (Mike) Dunfield of Sussex, NB, Rhonda Patterson of Sussex, NB; his sons: Mark (Vickey) Hay of Kingston, NB, Gordie Hay of Sussex, NB; also survived by grandchildren: Erica Johnson (Aaron), Kyle Patterson, Michael Graham (Kayla), MacKenzie Gray, Meredith Hay (Denver), Isaac Hay, Emma Hay, Maria Hay, Renee Goddard (Adam); great-grandchildren: Jacob McEwen, Blake Johnson, Mylah Johnson, Layla Wilson, Kayce Bevens; sister Marilyn Brighton; special friends: Ronnie Brown & Rollie MacArthur; his only surviving aunt, Valerie; a very special cousin Jimmy Hay; along with several nieces and nephews.  Besides his parents, John is also predeceased by his grandson Thomas Hay and nephew Stephen Brighton.

Johnny’s passions were hunting, fishing, golfing, curling, playing cards with his Legion buddies and watching his great grand kids playing baseball.

From the back deck watching the birds and squirrels, He always loved sitting in his front porch listening to his music, telling a good joke and if you needed to know the history of Sussex, he was your guy.

His nightly ritual was with Mom watching all their favorite game shows.

Johnny loved sipping his coffee with his best buds Ronnie and Roger at the Main Street Irving with his huge smile waving at every car that drove by.

Johnny looked forward to his annual summer visits by his only beautiful sister Marilyn Brighton.

Dad was never happier then when out in the woods from Adair’s Lodge to every back road on the Shepody scoping out the wildlife.

Dad, you will be truly missed, and we will hold every wonderful memory close to our hearts.
