Obituary of Edith Attoe

It is with heavy hearts and fond memories that the family of Mrs. Edith Hazel Attoe announce her passing on October 17, 2022 at the age of 87.

She was born in Snider Mountain on July 6, 1935; She was the daughter of the late Arthur Roy and Vera Mae (Simpson) Long and the wife of the late John Attoe who passed away in 2015.

Mum loved the Lord and her church family at Sussex Wesleyan Church, where she was a Charter Member. She was a true prayer warrior!! Mum's favourite place on earth was Beulah.  Every summer away we went to Beulah Family Camp for 10 days , where it felt like Heaven on earth.

Mum loved her family, and her favourite times were spent with children, beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who will always remember Nana's tight hugs and 3 loud kisses on their cheeks! She could always be heard whistling a tune while doing her chores and in the words of her grandchildren, "you could hear her whistle a mile away and she was the best whistler!!"

She will live on in the hearts of her loving children: Walter Attoe and Eliane Ouelette of Oak Bay, Philip Attoe and his wife Betty of Sussex and Faith Jenkins and her husband Mark of Sussex Corner; her sisters: Doris Nelson, Glenna Simpson and Jim, Joan Acott and her husband Al and Clara MacLeod and her husband Aubrey; her brothers: Donnie Long and Ashley Long; her grandchildren: Vanessa Leland (Stephen), Samantha Attoe, Danielle Micacchi (Taylor), Kathleen Moore (Mikhail), Sarah Melnyk, Marquel Dorie (Josh) and Ryan Jenkins (Carly); her great grandchildren: Cooper, Brooke, Easton, Everleigh, Luke, Evan, Isla, Nathaniel, Elisabeth, Miriam, Joseph, Matthew, Ellie, Jack and Charlie; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Along with her parents and husband, she is predeceased by her son, Paul who passed away in 2017; her sisters: Mabel Baxter, Evelyn Steen and Viola McAllister and by her brothers: Hartley Long and Lloyd Long.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176) from where visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 26, 2022 from 1-2pm immediately followed by a Celebration of Edith’s life in the Wallace Community Chapel.

If you are considering making a memorial donation the family has recommended World Vision or the charity of the donor's choice.  Condolences to the family and donations may be made through WallaceFuneralHome.com

The family would like to express their sincere thanks to Alvin and Dorothy MacDonald and their wonderful team of caregivers at Great Oaks Special Care Home. Words cannot express our gratitude and appreciation for the loving care, compassion and delicious home cooking that Mum received there.
