Dear Linda and family,
I just found out today about Mr. Walker. When I think of him I always have a smile on my face. He was my grade 10 phys. ed. teacher. I will never forget all the times my friend Carolyn and I "schemed" to get out of phys. ed. class. Whether it was a case of Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever or a school wide petition, Mr. Walker always had a good laugh at our attempts (and there were many). He made one of my least favorite subjects a joy to be in. Will be keeping you all in my prayers.

Remembering a truly loving, caring and incredible person. There are no words. Here is the story of the time, as Mr Walker liked to put it, where I “scared the heck out of him”. We are out at the camp for our winter camping trip of the year and everyone is having a great time the snow was abundant and a few of us decided we’d build camps to sleep outside. Side story I sunk into the snow with one leg straight up to my hip and was fully stuck there. What does Mr. Walker do you may ask, does he come over to help me up, no absolutely not. He laughs his fool head off at while proceeding to take a photo of me instead. I get out and we go over to our camp so he can check on our progress. Well on the way back to the cabin guess who then falls right into the leg hole that I had previously created. I laughed so hard I thought I’d fall over while he scolded me for not helping “a senior citizen in need”. I used his camera so he’d have a matching photo of himself of course then helped him out. Back to the original tale it’s the morning and my team is up cooking breakfast for everyone. It’s hot and smoky in the cabin and all of a sudden I start to feel unwell so I step outside to cool down, when I come back in I no more make it in the door before I collapse onto a classmate. Small amount of time to recover and I’m no worse for wear, we hike out and it’s just another event I can report to my doctor because of course I’ve now caused Mr Walker another patch of grey hair. He always took such great care of us and was truly invested in us as his students. MrWalker I’m sorry I scared ya that trip but I’m glad it was you there to take care of me afterwards.

I am so deeply sorry for your loss and I know this town and anyone who had the pleasure of knowing Mr Walker will miss him so much! He was my absolute favorite teacher and I have some of my best high school memories from his classes. From pushing me to get my heart looked at and being the reason I found out I have a heart condition to teaching me what plants you can forage to eat I have so many great stories! Here is one from our final camping trip, we had been told by the school that we weren’t allowed to do the kayak trip we had all planned so Mr Walker pulled out all the stops for us! We were brought out to his friends camp for the night and he surprises us with his personal 4 wheeler so that we can all take turns ripping around the trails. As my mum remembers well from his final year of teaching his famous line at school was “what are they gonna do, fire me?”. I think he was having the best year of his life and we all benefited from it. He was hilarious, kind, intelligent, and one of the most amazing men I’ve ever known. I will forever share my stories and be so glad I have them to keep!

Seeing Brian again when I moved to Sussex was such a treat as he was one of my all time favourite teachers during his time at North Minto. To Linda, Edna, Linda, David, Daryll, Patsy, and Jeff,
I am shocked and extremely saddened to read of Brian's passing. A bunch of New Line memories came flooding back. Brian and I seldom got to spend time together, but when we did, we had great conversations to share experiences and memories.
Brian taught me how to drive a tractor back in the late 60's - their new (at the time) blue Ford tractor. I believe it may be the one in the tribute video.
Haying with boys, sort of! I got to drive the 1 ton truck in the field, while they chucked the bales of hay. I was too small to lift a bale, let alone throw them.
I got to drink real "whole" milk while staying with Frank and Edna back then.
All these things have been so important to me over the years and having such a great cousin to look up to - even though he was only a couple years older. I loved being around Brian whether it was on the farm or the soccer field (as high school opponents). We had great times.
I will certainly miss you cuz. RIP
