Obituary of Peter Hayes

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Peter Donald Hayes announce his sudden passing on January 2, 2023 at the age of 65.

Born at the Kings County Memorial Hospital in Sussex on April 7, 1957; he was the son of the late Donald and Virginia (Travers) Hayes.

Peter was a hard worker and began his working career in 1977 for the Department of Transportation. He was truly a man of the highway; he not only had a love for driving truck and could plow a road with the best of them but his true passion was being behind the wheel. He was a kind-hearted man, who would always offer a laugh, a smile or a joke. He will be missed by all those whose lives he touched.

Peter will live on in the hearts of his siblings: Mary-Ellen Webster and her husband Danny of Sussex Corner, David and his wife Leslie of Moncton, Stephen and his wife Joyce of Calgary, AB, Jane Folkins and her husband Harold of Collina, Frank and his wife Margaret of Roachville, Julie Drummond of Saint John, Carolyn LeBlanc of Sussex Corner, Paul and his wife Rita of BC, Robert Hayes and Carol Dempster of Sussex and Gail Hayes and Kevin McLean of Sudbury, ON; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents, he is predeceased by his brothers: Philip, William, Mark and Joe and by his brothers-in-law: Claude LeBlanc and Gary Drummond.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the compassionate care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176). A Mass of Christian Burial will be held from St. Francis Xavier Roman Catholic Church on Friday, January 6, 2023 at 11:00am. Interment will be held at Wards Creek Cemetery In the spring.

In lieu of flowers, Donations made to the Living Memorial would be appreciated by the family.  Condolences to the family and donations may be made through WallaceFuneralHome.com
