Obituary of Bob Hutton
Robert “Bob” Loggie Hutton passed away unexpectedly at his home on Good Friday, April 7, 2023, at the age of 89.
Bob was born in Moncton, NB on January 9, 1934; he was the son of the late Harry T.C. and Lottie (Loggie) Hutton. The family moved to Saint John, where Bob attended local schools, graduating from Saint John High School in 1952.
Bob was always interested in planes and flying and would receive his private pilot license at the Moncton Flying Club. Bob was a member of the Air Cadets and received a flying scholarship to England and the British Isles.
He was a hard-working man and working for International Harvester kept him busy. It was his job to find a dealer in Sussex. Bob and his co-worker Bill Arbing decided that they would become that dealer and in 1965 with families in tow, they moved to Sussex and Arbing and Hutton’s Equipment was born. Several years later, Bob and Judy opened Hutton’s Dry Cleaning where they took great pride in serving the town of Sussex and its surrounding areas for over 25 years, until their retirement. The Hutton’s were also the owners of Houseboat Vacations a summer rental business in Cody’s.
Bob had a passion for singing and enjoyed being a member of the Men of Fundy, as well as singing in the choir at St. Paul’s United Church. He was a founding member, past president, and a Charter member of the Sussex Rotary Club.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Judy (Wright); his daughters: Carolyn Arseneault (Rod) and Margaret Sherwood (Wayne); his son, Bruce Hutton (Laurie); his grandchildren: Ben Arseneault (Michelle), Meghan Arseneault (Corey), Brandan Sherwood, and Cole Hutton; his great grandchild, Harley Hutton; his brother, James Hutton (Linda); as well as several nieces and nephews.
