Ruth was born on August 29, 1924 in Sussex Corner and she was the daughter of Percy and Margaret (Bustard) Wood. Ruth grew up at Sussex Corner and at a young age started working with her father at his general store. After 9 years she moved to Hamilton Ontario where she worked in a drug store. When she came back to New Brunswick she worked in Saint John at the National Drug Co. and in Fredericton at the Eastern Drug Co. She retired in 1980 and moved back to Sussex. She spent 19 winters in Florida and enjoyed ballroom dancing and line dancing. Ruth was a member of St. Paul's United Church, the UCW and the Hospital Auxiliary. Ruth had many friends and always kept in touch with them and always remembered special occasions like birthdays and anniversaries. Miss Ruth Evelyn Wood of Sussex passed away on March 15, 2012 at the age of 87. Arrangements have been entrusted to the compassionate care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, NB (506) 433-1176. There will be a graveside service held at Kirkhill Cemetery on May 25, 2012 at 1pm. Donations in memory of Ruth may be made to the memorial of the donor's choice.
