Obituary of Margaret Smith

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Margaret Rose Smith announce that she left her earthly home to her heavenly home on July 10, 2023 at the age of 78.

Margaret was born in Gander Bay, NFLD on November 7, 1944; she was the daughter of Emily (Head) Coates and the late Sidney Coates and the wife of the late Fred Smith.

She will live on in the hearts and memories of her mom, Emily Coates of NFLD; her children: Tamara Smith-Wilson and her husband Daniel of Sussex, Susan Thompson and Richard Prosser of Parkindale, Barbara Nash of Toronto and Keith Nash of NFLD; her siblings: Irene McGrath (Sherman), Isabel Ripley (Robert), Hazel Cleaveland, Wanda Coates (Sheldon), Dorothy LeDrew, Ivonne Leyte (Arthur), Dulice Alffee (Dwight), Caroline Steeves (Harry), Robert Coates (Bonnie), Herbert Coates, Raymond Coates (Susan), Everett Coates (Debbie), Derek Coates (Sadie) and Phillip Coates (Trudy); her grandchildren: Wayne McAllister, Justin Smith-Wilson, Joshua Smith-Wilson, Jayden Smith-Wilson, Brandon Thompson, Marcus Nash, Martin Nash, Martina Nash and Katie Nash; as well as several great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Along with her father and husband, she is predeceased by her son, Gerald Nash.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, NB (506-433-1176) from where a visitation will be held on Thursday, July 13 from 4-7pm. A celebration of Margaret’s life will be held from Wallace Community Chapel on Friday, July 14, 2023 at 2:00pm.
