Obituary of Ruth Lackie
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Ruth L.G. Lackie announce that she was called home on August 12, 2023 at the Sussex Health Centre at the age of 80.
Born on August 31, 1942 in Sussex Corner, NB; she was the daughter of the late Edward and Annie (Close) Gamblin.
Ruth worked for 33 years as a ward clerk at the Kings County Memorial Hospital and then helped around the campground in PEI.
She was very health conscious, always careful what she ate and walked every day of her life, for as long as she was able.
Ruth was a gifted cook and no matter how hard the grandkids tried they could never reproduce her Strawberry Rhubarb Torte. She had a passion for quilting and was very active in her church and with the ACW. She had a strong faith and a deep love for her family, especially her grandchildren.
She loved to travel, whether it was to Florida and New Orleans or in their motorhome across the Maritimes, Ontario and Quebec.
She will live on in the hearts of her loving husband of 62 years, Crandall; her sons: Dale Lackie and his wife Linda of Sussex and Kevin Lackie and his wife Nita of Mount Hebron; her sister, Barbara Kupkee and her husband Gerry of Sussex; her grandchildren: Christa McFarlane (Kevin), Teri Miller (Nick), Sarah Toole (Justin), Tyler Lackie and Allison Pearson (Zack); her great grandchildren: Hayden, Camden, Jessa, William, Georgia and Myla; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents, she is predeceased by her sister, Gladys Perry.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, NB (506-433-1176) from where visitation will be held on Thursday, August 17, 2023 from 4 to 7pm. A Celebration of Ruth’s life will be held at Trinity Anglican Church on Friday, August 18, 2023 at 10:00am. The interment will take place in Trinity cemetery, Sussex Corner, NB.
