Jan Baines

Obituary of Jan Baines

We are so sorry to announce that Janice Irene Baines, our beloved wife, mother, and friend has fallen asleep in the Lord. Our faithful sister in Christ fell asleep on August 23rd, 2023, and now awaits the glorious resurrection to our Lord’s presence.

Jan was born January 28th, 1961, in Toronto to Hillis and Marlene (Richmond) Briggs. The oldest of four girls, Jan helped her parents raise Susan, Sherri (Craft) and Diana; the girls have remained close throughout their lives.

Jan met her best friend and soulmate, Phil, in September of 1975 and they were married on September 30th, 1978. The two became one, and they were inseparable. Their love story grew on their walk together in life and in their faith, and they are an inspiration to everyone who met them. They were united in their belief and trust in God, the return of our Lord Jesus, and the hope of the resurrection for 45 wonderful years.

Jan was a selfless, loving, and genuine woman. She loved her family, both physical and spiritual, fiercely. She always put others ahead of herself, and was the first one to take care of her friends; she was also known for her stubborn streak, rivalled only by Phil.

Jan’s grandchildren were the absolute, greatest joy in her life; they were always baking, gardening, and making crafts together. She was proud to call herself a crazy cat lady, and she loved to work on her pictures. Jan had slideshows of her favourite places, people, and animals always on display.

Jan is survived by her beloved husband Phil, her children Tony (Deborah) Baines, Jenn (Joey) Wetmore and Amanda (Josh) Robinson and her grandkids, Karys & Cayden Baines, and Evy, Charlie, Annie & Lucy Wetmore. She is also survived by her sisters, Susan Briggs, Sherri (Blair) Craft & Diana (Martin Cook) Briggs along with several nieces and nephews.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, NB (506-433-1176). The family invites you to celebrate Jan’s life with them on Saturday, August 26th, 2023, at 2:00 PM, to be held at the Sussex Christadelphian Hall; 201 Roachville Road, Roachville NB, E4G 2J4.

Donations in memory of Jan may be made to Agape in Action or to the Sussex Sharing Club. Personal condolences to the family and donations may be made through wallacefuneralhome.com
