Obituary of Eva Palmer

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Mrs. Eva May Palmer announce her passing at the Great Oaks Special Care Home on December 6, 2023 at the age of 94.

She was born in Sussex on March 3, 1929. She was the daughter of the late Roland and Helen (Sprague) Thorne and the wife of the late Cameron Palmer who passed away in 2018.

Eva saw the love of her life for the first time from a bus window at the station in Sussex. On July 21, 1951 they continued their love story as husband and wife and would spend 67 more wonderful years together. Their love only growing stronger as they welcomed their three children and then grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was a simple Christian woman whose family and faith always came first. She was patient and kind and well loved by many. They attended church faithfully and, in her youth, Eva was her church pianist. In later years, she loved to accompany Cameron on the keyboard while he played his harmonica.

In her younger years, Eva had a love of ceramics, and was a good cook and a wonderful baker – always making sure a fresh treat was made each week. She was a doting housewife and mother.

Eva  will live on in the hearts of her children: Joanne Tinus and her husband Tony, Elaine Nicholson and Gary Palmer and his wife Cindy all of Ontario;  her sister, Jean Grice of Fredericton; her brothers: Frank Thorne and his wife Melba of Roachville and Roland Thorne of Riverbank; her grandchildren: Tim, Mark (Shirley), Lisa (Jamie), Evan (Kirsten), Corey, Drew, Alyssa and Christina; 12 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild; as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family.

Along with her parents and her loving husband, she is predeceased by her grandson, Jeffrey and her great grandson, Devon.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the compassionate care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176) from where visitation will be held on Monday, December 11, 2023 from 11am-1pm. A service celebrating Eva's life will be immediately following.
