Obituary of Lemuel Jane Ashe

It is with heavy hearts that the family of the late Lemuel Jane Ashe announce her passing on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at her residence in Nauwigewauk, NB. Born in Upham, NB on August 21, 1945, she was a daughter of the late Lemuel and Annie (Goold) Ashe.

Jane was the last living member of her immediate family but will be lovingly remembered by her brother-in-law, Merton Chown, as well as several nieces and nephews and her many friends.

Besides her parents, Jane was predeceased by her sisters: Anne Ashe, Joan Ashe, Mary Chown, Emma Brhum, and Dorothy McEwen.

Many thanks to her late nieces, Betty and Wanda, who had been her primary caregivers.

If you had met Jane, you would love her, especially if you remembered her favourite colour (dollar) bill. She loved babies, dancing, and a nice glass of fruity wine. She especially enjoyed special family Christmases at Sherry’s. She will be forever missed. Rest peacefully, Jane Ashe.

The family also wishes to thank Tammy and all of the staff at McKellar’s Special Care Home for their excellent and compassionate care of Jane while she was a resident there.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, NB (506-433-1176). A graveside service will take place later in the spring.

Donations in memory of Jane may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, The Heart & Stroke Foundation, the Canadian Cancer Association or a charity of the donor’s choice. Personal condolences to the family and donations may be made through wallacefuneralhome.com
