Sorry to be reading of Don's passing. I had many conversations with him. He was not only a great person he was a good police officer too. Our municipality of Sussex and area was fortunate to have him. His humour was nice. He could definitely lift up a person when they were feeling down. Bill, Everything that you are feeling is because your Dad loved you so well and you loved him back with with the heart of a little boy that idolized his Dad. Will and Brenda, so sorry for your loss. I worked with Don in Sussex where he made everyone feel like apart of the detachment family. His humour made the dark nights brighter and the days sunnier. I still remember when he started walking as a hobby and was soon taking almost daily walls from Sussex to Apohaqui.

Upon graduation from Depot, Don was posted to McAdam, NB where he lived with me and three other single RCMP officers. We shared a lot of good times together and we all enjoyed his dry humor. On behalf of my wife, Lorna, and myself, I wish to extend our sincerest condolences to all members of Don's family. You are in our thoughts and prayers.

Condolences to Don’s family. We were both posted to McAdam, NB in the 70’s with a great bunch of members. Don was the quiet recruit but he had a dry sense of humour that gave everybody a laugh. He was a good worker and well liked by all. Lost touch with Don over the years but the news of his passing has greatly saddened Jeannie and I.

Some of my most fond memories, during the early years of my career, include working with Don.
Don had an amazing sense of humor and a keen intellect. I cannot recall a single shift that was not filled with jokes and laughter, regardless of the gravity of the situations that we dealt with.
Any lives that Don touched were enhanced.
My deepest condolences.

Brenda , Bill and Family… Our deepest and most sincere condolences to all of you during this difficult time. We were absolutely heartbroken to hear of Don’s recent passing. We truly feel blessed to have had Don in our lives, both personally and professionally, and are forever thankful that we had the opportunity to see Don on Sunday. Don and I have known each other for 34+ years, and literally worked side by side for the better part of 12, in both uniform and plain clothes. Since Don retired we have remained in touch, on almost a daily basis. Our time together was plenty, with travel, training courses, long term secondments, to having had the privilege of standing up with Don at your wedding. We have shared many special times together and Don was TRULY like a brother to me, and will always have a special place in our hearts, and with our family. RIP brother, (33076), until we meet again.

On a shopping trip to Maine one year, my cousin Darlene and I thought it would be a great idea to pop into the Sussex detachment to say a quick hello to Don as we hadn't seen him in quite sometime. So we walked into the depot and excitedly asked to speak to Cowboy Manning ( anyone who knows our family would be quite aware that many, many of us have nicknames) The officer who had greeted us looked bewildered and said did you just ask for "Cowboy Manning" to which we replied "Not if you're going to tell him we did" . I'm 57 now and he has always remained my favourite Cowboy
