Ivan Titus

Obituary of Ivan James Titus

It is with heavy hearts that the family of the late Ivan James Titus announce his passing after a period of poor health on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at his residence with his family by his side. Born in Sussex in 1951, he was a son of the late Sterling (d.2009) and Gertrude (d.2016) (Seeley) Titus.

Ivan will live on in the hearts of his loving wife of 47 years, Mary Jean Titus; his daughter Becky Titus; his son Jim Titus, wife Maggie, and his grandson, Jensen Titus; his siblings (and in-laws): Earl Titus, Jean MacDonald (Jeff d.2023), Karen Embree (Eugene), Ernie Titus (Donna), Ron Titus (Murielle), Anne Kennedy (Rick), Barb Carll (Ken), Donnie Titus (Tracy), Carol Muir (Brian), and Wayne Titus (Earlene); brother in laws, Bill McGibbon (Lois) and Peter McGibbon (Cathy). Ivan is also survived by several uncles and aunts, nieces and nephews, cousins and extended family.

Ivan spent most of his working career as an Owner/Operator with RST industries bringing him to all corners of the Martimes and all points in between. He forged several important friendships along the way and cherished contact with these valued friends and colleagues through his retirement years.

Dad loved traveling the roads, seeing the country, and getting the news of the day over a cup of coffee. Church on Sunday mornings with the Tims Crowd and breakfast at JJ’s stayed on his weekly calendar and he most enjoyed seeing and talking to people and sharing a laugh. Father loved a game of cards. From family games as far back as the brick house, to the community games, to the home games with the guys, to teaching crib to Jensen, there was never a doubt to deal him in. Afternoon coffee was always a priority for some quick wit and laughs.

Above all, Dad was a family man. Dad married mom in 1976 creating a wonderful and loving life for his wife, son, and daughter. Family drives always an event to Dad’s favourite thing - a country drive with mom. Grampie enjoyed tinkering around in the yard and taking the tractor for a drive and always on the lookout for a traveling or landing hot air balloon.  Father now leaves a vacant seat at the coffee shop table, the card table, and the dining room table with a loyal canine companion in feeding reach. Whether family or friend, you could trust him for a helping hand and have a laugh along the way. With Dad’s passing, our hearts and thoughts have a huge vacancy, we will honor his legacy by remembering the great memories with humor and wit.

The family would like to thank the entire staff of Dow Quality Health Care, and especially Brenda, for their comfort and compassion. A very special Thank-you to Ida Adair for her kindness and support.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, NB (506-433-1176). In keeping with Ivan’s wishes, all arrangements will be held privately.
