Obituary of Lois McFarlane

It is with saddened hearts that the family of Lois Marguerite McFarlane announce her passing on May 19, 2024 at the Sussex Health Centre at the age of 78.

Born in Belleisle Creek, NB on July 13, 1945; she was the daughter of the late John and Nancy (Armstrong) Lynch.

Lois grew up in a large family of 3 brothers and 6 sisters in Belleisle, where she was taught to have family values and strong work ethics. In her earlier years of adulthood, she worked waitressing, as a cook at Opal House, then onto Kiwanis Nursing Home where she worked for 22 years until her retirement in 2013. But her retirement did not tie her down. She kept active with family and friends. She walked everywhere in Sussex. She loved the outdoors.

She was a mother to many, whether they were family, or friends and she loved her family and spent time talking and seeing them as much as she could. She opened her home to anyone who needed a place to go. Lois touched a lot of lives over her 78 years of life.

She will be sadly missed by all those whose lives she crossed paths with.

Lois will live on in the hearts of her three children: Wanda McFarlane of Sussex, Darryn McFarlane and his wife Virginia of Sussex and Krista McFarlane and her husband Murray of Quispamsis; her grandchildren: Justin (Amber), Jeremy (Stephnie), Katelyn (Ben), Chad (Kathryn), Sarah (Jason), Riley, Taylor (Justin) and MacKenzie (Shelby); her great grandchildren: Kolby, Savannah, Chloe, Amelia, Avery, Xavier, Everly, Braxton, Cohen, Cayson and Waylon; the father of her children, Raymond McFarlane (Jane); her siblings: Fred, Doris, Jack (Wanda), Shirley (Terry) and Ron (Gail); as well as many nieces and nephews, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.

Along with her parents, Lois is predeceased by her sisters: Freda Long, Mary Hagell, Helen Devine, Eva Darling and her infant sister, Dorothy; her nieces:  Lori Gale, Cindy Darling and Linda Lamb; her nephews: Christopher Hagell, Rodney Wright and Tony Darling.

Arrangements are entrusted to the compassionate care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, NB (506-433-1176) from where visitation will be held on Friday, May 24, 2024 from 2-4 and 6-8pm. A Celebration of Lois’ Life will be held from Wallace Community Chapel on Saturday, May 25, 2024 at 11:00am. The interment will take place in Trinity Cemetery, Sussex Corner.
