Obituary of Wendal Vail

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Wendal Berfield Vail announce his passing at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital on June 2, 2024 at the age of 70.

Born in Cherry Hill, NB on September 11, 1953, he was the son of the late Sterling and Lena (Moss) Vail.

Wendal enjoyed a simple life. Time spent with family and friends was time well spent. He was meticulous about a well mowed lawn never a blade out of place and filling the wood box, piling and resplitting wood was his favourite winter pastime.

There was nothing in sight that he couldn’t burn he loved to build a big fire. Hockey and Music especially Red Sovine and John Prine were favorites and we will miss his sing alongs.

He will live on in the hearts of his siblings: Wanda (Vail) Thorne, Randy Vail and Garfield Vail and his wife Sheila; his nieces and nephews: Crystal Daigle (Dave), Ian Vail, Paul Vail, Sterling Vail, Gregory Vail (Deb), Lena Vail, Kim Vail (Luke), Kendra Vail and Jordan Vail; his best buddy, Jack; as well as several great nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Along with his parents, he is predeceased by his brothers: Dana Vail and Garnet Vail; his nieces: Trish and Vanessa and by his nephew, RJ.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, NB (506-433-1176), from where a visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 5, 2024 from 2-4 and 6-8pm. A Celebration of Wendal’s life will be held from the Mill Cove Church of God on Thursday, June 6, 2024 at 1:00pm with Pastor Steven Ferris officiating.

In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations be made to the Living Memorial or to the charity of the donor’s choice. Personal condolences to the family and donations may be made through wallacefuneralhome.com
