Obituary of Val Drisdelle

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Valerie Timothy Joseph Drisdelle, 83, of Penobsquis, on Saturday September 7th, 2024, at his residence, with family by his side.

Born on October 30, 1940, in Joggins, N.S., he was the son of the late Timothée and late Alida (née Cormier) Drisdelle.

Val was a hard worker, a jack of all trades. His eye for detail allowed him to work many years in carpentry and with his portable band sawmill, retiring at the ripe age of 79.  He also served in the Royal Canadian Navy.

Val loved hunting, fishing, playing cards and porch sitting as he always had a story to tell.

Val will be greatly missed by his loving wife, Sue (McPhee); his daughters: Teresa (Tim) Mollins of Shediac Cape, Brenda Drisdelle of Shediac, Wendy (Robert) Boudreau of Boudreau Ouest and Katlyn (Jonathan) Thériault of Shediac River; his sons: Gary (Lekha) Drisdelle of Thornhill, Ontario, and Cole (Alyssa) Drisdelle of Norton. As well as his eleven grandchildren: Cory (Anika), Ryan (Jess), Leigha, Justin, Kyle, Will, Adèle, Éric, Jessa, Ava, Cooper and one great grandson, Liam; his sisters: Cecilia Doucette of Brantford, Ontario, Elizabeth May of Dieppe, Yvette Buckley and Dorita LeBlanc both of Halifax; his sister-in-law, Dora Drisdelle of Moncton; his brother-in-law, Bennie Benoit of Moncton; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents, Val was predeceased by his brothers: Gerald and Arthur; his sister, Doris; as well as his brothers-in-law: Ken, Harold and Pat.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, NB (506-433-1176). A celebration of Val’s life will be held from Wallace Community Chapel on Friday, September 13, 2024, at 11:00am.
