Obituary of Jean Baskin
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Jean Baskin announce her peaceful passing at home on October 30, 2024 at the age of 70.
Born in Perry Settlement on September 10, 1953; She was the daughter of the late Murray and Shirley (Gregg) Baskin and the wife of the late Douglas Logan.
In 1969, Jean moved to Ontario with her first husband. They brought their son into the world in 1971, she was a proud mother and took joy in raising her son. In 1975 they moved back home to be closer to family.
Shortly after coming home, Jean got a job with a flagging company, where she stayed for 5 years until moving on to better things. In 1981, they started their taxi business; first on St. George St but only 3 short years later, she bought the house on Peter Street and ran the business from there.
She met Doug in about ’07 then they worked alongside each other painting barns and houses until she retired. They lived together for 6 years before they got married in 2013.
Jean loved all of her family and friends, and she will forever keep the memories in her heart.
She had a love of classic country and loved to talk about her life growing up and loved to have a good laugh and a good cry.
Jean wanted to thank the doctors who were so kind and caring; especially Dr. O’Neill and Dr. Andreani, Sussex Extra Mural, Todd Munford, Lindsay Bettle and the Staff of PharmaChoice Drug Store and especially her loving homecare workers: Margie, Angie, Renee and Misty.
She will live on in the hearts of her son, Maurice Robinson (Theresa) of Alberta; her sister, Eva Douthwright (Richard) of Ontario; her brothers: Harvey (Linda) of Plumweseep, Charles (Cathy) of Plumweseep, Harold (Sheena) of Smiths Creek and David (Joy) of Quispamsis; her grandchildren: Ty, Madison and Glen; her great-grandchildren: Oaklyn, Monique, Tal and Knoxx; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents and love of her life, she is predeceased by her brothers: Curtis, Dayle and Christopher and by her sister, Shirley Mercer.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex (506-433-1176). A graveside service will be held on Sunday, November 10, 2024 at 1pm at the Pioneer Cemetery, Penobsquis.
