Obituary of Verna Mary Webb

It is with sadness and heavy hearts we announce the passing of our dear mom, Verna Webb, on Monday, January 20th, 2025. Born on June 24th, 1931, she was the wife of the late Mac Webb of Sussex.

She is survived by daughters: Kim Webb-Simpson (Doug Simpson), Sussex Corner and Linda Camphausen (Michael) of Toronto, Ontario; special son, Steven Webb (Karen) of Rothesay; honourary grandchildren: Jonathan (Veronique and Luke) and Matthew of Sarnia, Ontario; Olivia and Jessica Simpson of South Branch and cherished sister-in-law, Verna Webb #1 of Saint John.

Verna was the last survivor of her immediate family, predeceased by parents, Ralph and Sybil; brothers Ken (Geraldine), Clive (Evelyn), Clarence (Jessie); sisters Ruth (Bob), Marion and Shirley (Lloyd). Verna was loved and cherished by three generations of nieces and nephews.

Mom stayed true to her faith, her steps never faltering. She was a lifetime member of the United Church of Canada, a member of the Board of Stewards, an Elder, a Sunday School teacher and a member of UCW and the choir at St. Paul’s United Church in Sussex. Honouring her roots, Verna was an enthusiastic member of the Base Gagetown Community History Society. Locally, she was an active member of the Lower Cove Women’s Institute and a lifetime member of the New Brunswick Women’s Institute. She also served as president of the King’s County MS Society for several years.

The family would like to thank Doctors Ray Butler and Luc Edgar, the staff of Saint John Regional Hospital, Palliative Care in Sussex, Boulier Home Care, and Shannex, Concorde Hall in Quispamsis for the wonderful care she received.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176) from where a visitation will take place on Thursday, January 23 from 4-8pm. A celebration of Verna's life will take place from St. Paul's United Church on Friday, January 24 at 2pm. Interment will take place at Kirk Hill Cemetery in the spring.

Donations to St. Paul’s United Church, MS Society, The Canadian Red Cross, or a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family. Donations and personal condolences to the family may be made through www.wallacefuneralhome.com
