Obituary of Bernadette Webb

 

Mrs. Bernadette R. Webb was born on January 15, 1923 in Curventon, NB she was the daughter of the late Albert and Dorothy (Baisley) Estey and wife of the late Kenneth Webb who passed away in 2002.

 

The greatest gifts parents can give to their children is roots and wings- roots of responsibility and wings of independence. Responsibility and independence are the key ingredients in a solid foundation for life and neither of these is easy to teach children or adults.

 

She worked at numerous positions including War time Housing as cashier, Sheer Silk Hoisery, Tam-O-Shanter, Friars Restaurant and Cabins, Valley Restaurant, London’s Rest Home.

 

During the war, she worked in Saint John. She attended a dance in Westfield with a friend where she met Ken. Her dream was always to marry a farmer and two years later she got her wish. Kenneth B. Webb passed away in 2002. They operated Green Valley farm and as if being a farm wife, mother of six didn’t keep her busy enough, over the next 10 years she looked after 21 foster children. Over the next 30 years, the Webb farm was home to over 140 senior citizens who quickly became part of the family. She still found time for her hobbies such as quilting, painting, sewing. Despite periods of ill health, she carried on with love and compassion.

 

Bernadette will live on in the hearts of her daughters: Vivian Hicks and her husband Ivan of Upper Coverdale, Carolyn MacDonald and her husband Murray of Highfield; four sons: Ken and his wife Patricia of Hampton, Weldon and his wife Karen of Lower Millstream, Ronnie and his wife Dawn of Apohaqui and Darrin of Penticton, BC; two special daughters: Audrey Vokey of Shubenacadie and Donna Russell of Riverview; two brothers: Harold Estey of Newcastle, Barry Estey of Nelson, NB; five sisters: Greta Innis of Douglastown, Theresa Freeman of Hamilton, Ontario, Carmel Estey of Hamilton, Ontario, Helen Mahoney of Sunny Corner and Loretta Hedquist of Penticton, BC; 10 grandchildren: James MacDonald and his wife Kimberly of Highfield, Annette MacDonald of Highfield, Anita Coombs and her husband Robert of Quispamsis and Juanita MacDonald of Moncton, Craig Webb and Jodi Stringer of  Saint John and Christen Webb of Hampton, Nicole Gillies and her husband Howard of Lower Millstream, Jason Webb and his wife Angela of Poodiac, and Troy Webb and Brittany Smith of Saint John and Madeline Webb of Apohaqui; nine great grandchildren, Mackenzie, Alivia, Iain, Ryan, Adam, Emma, Terence, Mathew and Kaila; as well as several nieces and nephews.

 

 Mrs. Bernadette R. Webb of Lower Millstream, passed away on June 10, 2007 at the age of 84.

 

Along with her parents and her husband, She was predeceased by her infant daughter, Wendy, grandson Terry, three brothers: Morrisey, James and Francis Estey and three sisters: Marie Smith, Doreen Goguen and Mona Robins.

 

Arrangements have been entrusted to the compassionate care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176) where visitation was held.

A service celebrating Betty's  life was held from Wallace Community Chapel on Thursday, June 14, 2007 at 11:00 am.
