Obituary of Dorothy Elizabeth Wilson

Dorothy was born in Sussex on March 14, 1924. She was the daughter of the late Clarence and Elizabeth (Dyer) Goddard and was the wife of the late Levi Wilson who passed away in 1982. For many years, Dorothy worked as a housekeeper for different families in the area. She became friends with Anne Moffett when she worked at her house and they have remained very close for all these years. Several years ago, while Christmas shopping in Saint John, Dorothy was very badly injured due to a head on collision with a tractor trailer. She was in the hospital for close to a year and it was very hard on Dorothy to be separated from her children. Kevin, Stephen, Sharon, Heather and Karen all went to live with Ann, their oldest sister. Once Dorothy was well enough to come home, they were all together again. Dorothy enjoyed watching her soaps and doing crossword puzzles. She also enjoyed working the polls at election time, which was probably more about seeing all the people than about the politics. The highlight of her week was going to the grocery store on Saturdays. All week, she looked forward to Rachel picking her up and taking her out for their weekly trip. Dorothy was a very loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She spent her life taking care of those she loved and she looked forward to the family getting together at Christmas and other special occasions. Family was everything to her and she was everything to her family. Dorothy will be lovingly remembered by her sons: Kevin and his wife Yolande of Moncton and Stephen at home; her daughters: Ann McShane and her husband David of Saint John, Sharon Spicer of Sussex, Heather Mercer and her husband Nelson of Norton and Karen Gallant and her husband Donald of Moncton; her brother, Harold Goddard of Sussex; her grandchildren: Wade (Julie), Tina, Tyler, Andrea, Rachel (Ronnie), Kelly, Cindy, Penny (Wade), John, Dawn, Christopher and Natasha (Derek); her great grandchildren: Joshua, Sierra, Jesse and Kenadi as well as several nieces and nephews. Dorothy was predeceased by two granddaughters: Simone and Jane, her great grandson Noah and by her brother Nelson Goddard. Mrs. Dorothy Elizabeth Wilson of Sussex passed away at the Saint John Regional Hospital on February 22, 2012 at the age of 87. Arrangements have been entrusted to the compassionate care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex (506-433-1176), where visitation will be held on Friday, February 24th from 4-8pm. A Celebration of Dorothy's life will be held from Wallace Community Chapel on Saturday, February 25, 2012 at 1:00pm. Memorial donations in Dorothy's memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family. www.wallacefuneralhome.com
