Obituary of Fred Cummings
Fred Cummings was born in Plumweseep on April 30, 1931, he was the son of the late Harry and Ethel (Wheaton) Cummings. Fred was the Caretaker of St. Francis Roman Catholic Parish and Bowling Lanes for over thirty years, a volunteer fireman with the Sussex volunteer Fire Department for over 20 years and a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Sussex Branch # 20. He was a lifetime parishioner of St. Francis Xavier Church. Fred was a jack of all trades; he was a volunteer at the Sussex Sharing Club, loved gardening and helping others with their gardens. He enjoyed blue grass music and attending blue grass festivals. Fred will always be remembered by his wife Freda (Boyce); his step-daughter; Francis Walsh and her husband Ronnie of Alberta; three step-sons: Henry Boyce and his wife Ruth of Goshen Road, George Killam of Sussex, Patrick Killam and his wife Debbie of Havelock; three brothers: Johnny, Joe and Ernie Cummings all of Plumweseep; three sisters: Isabelle Tabor and her husband Russell of Hillsdale, Mary Tabor and her husband Warren of Hillsdale, Cathy Cummings of Plumweseep; 11 step grandchildren: Amanda, Jeffery, Tammy, Clayton, Mark, Ernie Christopher, Emily, Della, Kirk and Everett; five step-great grandchildren; as well several nieces and nephews. Mr. Fred Thomas Cummings of 537 Rte. 890 Smiths Creek, passed away at the Sussex Health Centre on May 15, 2007 at the age of 76. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176), where visitation will be held on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9pm. The Royal Canadian Legion, Sussex Branch # 20 will hold a tribute Friday evening at 6:45. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Francis Xavier Roman Catholic Church on Saturday, May 19, 2007 at 10:00 am with Fr. Peter Bagley officiating. There will be a reception in the Church Hall following the Mass and a private family interment will take place at Saint Michael's Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, donations made to the Living Memorial would be appreciated by the family.
