Lloyd Bruce Kennedy of Youngs Cove was born in Youngs Cove on September 5, 1919, and was the son of the late Bruce and Hazel (McVicar) Kennedy. Lloyd served in the Second World War, enlisting with 44 General Transport coy in 1941 where he served in Canada, United Kingdom, Central Mediterranean Area and Continental Europe, then returning to Canada where he was discharged in October 1945. He was an active member of the Grand Washadamoak Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 60, where he was a past officer, past vice president and past president and received the Merit Award in 1977. Lloyd was also very active in his community where he was a past councilor with the Queen
