Obituary of Herbert Sleep
Mr. Herbert William Sleep of Coles Island, passed away at the Sussex Health Centre on April 27, 2007 at the age of 88.
Born in Coles Island on August 18, 1918, he was the son of the late Herbert William and Annie H. (Evans) Sleep. Herb served overseas in Italy in the Canadian Army. He was a former truck driver for the Department of Transportation, he worked in many sawmills including, Bishops and Blois Corey. Herb enjoyed hunting, fishing, and woodworking. He handcrafted many fine items including several canoes, fine furniture and even birdhouses.
Herb is survived by his wife Greta, two sons: Eugene and Glendon; and his sister, Lillian Cole all of Coles Island; four grandchildren: Sherri, Shelly, Stacey and Michael; six great grandchildren: Richard, Cody, Brandy, Ryan, Krista and Megan.
Herb was predeceased by his sisters: Florence Wilson and Grace Wardell and his brother, Otto Evans.
Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176), where visitation will be held on Sunday 2-4, 7-9 pm.
The Royal Canadian Legion, Sussex Branch # 20 will hold a tribute Sunday evening at 6:45.
The Funeral Service will be held from Wallace Community Chapel on Monday, April 30, 2007 at 2:30 pm, followed by the interment at Coles Island Cemetery.
