Obituary of Cecil Long

Mr. Cecil Abram Long of Smiths Creek, passed away at the Sussex Health Centre on April 8, 2007 at the age of 78. Born in Collina on May 20, 1928, he was the son of the late Fred Payson Long and Edna Amanda (Kierstead).

Cecil is survived by Frances M. (Hall) his wife of 39 years. His daughter, Flora Price and her husband Howard of Sussex; four step-daughters: Millie Black-Bridges and her husband Brian of Sussex, Doreen Rouse of Quispamsis, Linda Moore and her husband Michael of BC, Margaret Parsons and her husband Randy of Amherst, NS; four step-sons: Gordon Brown and his wife Marlene of Sussex, Bryant Brown and his wife Beth of Picadilly, Ronald Brown and his wife Phyllis of Picadilly, David Brown and his wife Carol of Waterford; his daughter-in-law Karenann Murphy and her husband Wayne of Sussex, 16 grandchildren: Becky, Amanda and Alan Price, Donna Hall and her husband Stephen, Cecil Black and his wife Deanna, Christopher Rouse, Raymond (Chipper) Rouse and his wife Tammy, Brandy Sangster and her husband Jamie, Crystal Goddard and her husband David, Connie Akerley, Kathy Dempster and her husband Aubrey, Charlene Boyd and her husband Tony, Adam Brown, Laura Tobin and her husband Michael, Christa Hourihan and her husband Clinton and Dwight Brown; 18 great grandchildren: Kimberly, Jessica, Rebecca, Courtney, Ryan, Anthony, Michael, Nikki, Kayla, Mitchell, Mya, Jordyn, Ashley, Chloe, Mateo, Haley, Trai and John; as well as by several nieces and nephews;

Cecil was predeceased by his son, Gary Long, his sister, Margaret Martin and by his son-in-law Raymond Rouse.

Cecil was a woodsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping and gardening. He retired from the Department of Transportation as a night watchman in 1993. He was a member of Sussex United Baptist Church and a 24year member of AA.

Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176), where visitation will be held on Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9pm. The Funeral Service will be held from Sussex United Baptist Church on Wednesday, April 11, 2007 at 2:00 pm. The interment will take place at Gosline Cemetery in the spring.
