Obituary of Kempton Crawford

Mr. Kempton Earl Crawford of Hovey Road Quispamsis, passed away at the Saint John Regional Hospital on March 12, 2007 at the age of 70. Born in Muniac, Victoria County on June 19, 1936, he was the son of the late William and Mary (Lockhart) Crawford -Demerchant. Kempton is survived by his wife Kathleen B. (Cromwell); two daughters: Connie Trevors and her husband Billy of Miramichi, Lorraine Clinton and her husband Mike of Saint John; two sons: Kempton of Calgary and Brent and his wife Norma of Saint John; their mother, Marilyn Keating of Saint John; two step-daughters: Sharon Bennett and her husband Leonard of Lake Couichan, BC and Darlene Boyd of Victoria, BC; two step-sons: Douglas Chase of Calgary and Greg Chase and his wife Janis of Winnipeg; two sisters: Linda Beckwith and her husband Douglas of Salisbury and Elinor Crawford; his brother, Claude and his wife Marie all of Perth-Andover; 19 grandchildren: Trent, Mark, Nicole, Trevor, Carter, Brian, Brandon, Mathew, Kempton, Donald, Breanna, Jason, Shaylene, Chris, Melissa, Steven, Kennedy, Dani and Connor; three great grandchildren: Logan, Kaleigh and Arianna and his special little buddy, Noah Cormier; as well as several nieces and nephews. Kempton was predeceased by his brothers: Warren (Bud) and Laurence and his sister, Connie Poe. Kempton attended school in Victoria County, he was employed with the Bank of Nova Scotia in Florenceville, NB. He was a Vet assistant for 25 years at the Rothesay Avenue Animal Hospital. Kempton was an RCMP Auxiliary Constable for 30 years as well as a commissioner in Victoria, BC. He later owned and operated Crawford Convenience store in Sussex with his wife, Kathleen. Kempton enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, reading world news in the newspaper, a good crossword puzzle and basketball, as well as many other sports. Kempton was a kind and gentle soul and always had a smile for someone. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176), where visitation will be held on Wednesday evening from 7-9pm. The Funeral Service will be held from Wallace Community Chapel on Thursday, March 15, 2007 at 11:00 am. The interment will take place at Midland Cemetery in the Spring.
