Obituary of Thelma Heppell
Mrs. Thelma Heppell of Sussex, NB, passed away at the Kiwanis Nursing Home on November 18, 2006 at the age of 86. Born in Mt. Hebron NB on November 2, 1920, she was the daughter of the late John James and Clara (Rothwell) Tubb and the beloved wife of the late George Heppell who passed away in 1992. Thelma is survived by her daughter Helen Crawford and her husband Bob of Sussex, her sister Hon. Brenda Robertson of Moncton, two grandsons; Shaun and Chris and a great granddaughter, Kaylee, two nieces, Leslie Robertson (Maurice Bigelow) and Tracy Langley and her husband Ross and their children, Ellen, Mary and David, three nephews, Terry and Greg Tubb, Doug Robertson and his wife Katherine and their children Cameron, Christopher and Will, her step daughter Linda Ellison of Moncton and by 4 step grandchildren. Thelma was predeceased by her first husband Romeo Desjardins who passed away in 1971, her brother Ronald Tubb and by her step son Brian Heppell. Thelma was a retired school teacher, having taught for more than 35 years. She was a member of St. John's United Church, the UCW, WI, the Sussex and District Chamber of Commerce and the Sussex Downtown Business Association. Thelma was the proprietor and owner of the Beauty Nook which she purchased from her sister Brenda in 1957 and later moved it to its current location, 578 Main Street. After retirement Thelma was completely devoted to her volunteer work. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176). Visitation will be held at Wallace Funeral Home on Monday evening from 7-9pm. The Funeral Service will be held from St. Johns United Church on Tuesday, November 21, 2006 at 1:00 pm. The interment will take place at Kirk Hill Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, the family would appreciate donations made to the St. Johns United Church, the Kiwanis Nursing Home or to a memorial of the donor
