Obituary of Leslie Smith
Mr. Leslie Floyd Smith of Court Street, Sussex, passed away at the Sussex Health Centre on October 7, 2006 at the age of 90. Born in Dunsanine, Kings Co. NB on March 18, 1916, he was the son of the late Charles Edward and Henrietta (Whiteneck) Smith Les is survived by Ethel (Carhart) his beloved wife of 46 years, his son Tom Smith and his wife Alison of Mt. Middleton, his step children; Gerry Patterson and his wife Kelly of Dieppe, Shirley Chisolm and Steven Patterson both of Ontario, Irene Patterson of Smith Creek, 2 brothers; Richard (Dick) of Saint John, Fred and his wife Marg of Sussex, 2 granddaughters; Kira and Maranda, as well as several nieces and nephews Les was predeceased by four brothers; Len, Frank, Gordon and Ira and by his sister Florence Richard In earlier years Les was employed in a Fiberglass Plant in Ontario and after returning to Sussex he was employed as a carpenter with Banner Building Supplies. Les enjoyed hunting, fishing and picking blue berries along the train tracks. He loved his grandchildren, long drives, visiting his friends at the Mall and talking with the nurses on the South Wing of the Sussex Health Centre. Les served overseas during WWII and was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Sussex Branch #20. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176), where visitation will be held on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The Royal Canadian Legion Sussex Branch # 20 will hold a tribute Monday evening at 6:45pm. The Funeral Service will be held from Calvary Pentecostal Church on Tuesday, October 10, 2006 at 1:00 pm followed by a time of fellowship with the family in the church hall. The interment will take place at Cardwell Cemetery at 3:30pm. As an expression of sympathy donations made to the Living Memorial would be appreciated by the family.
