Obituary of Bill Galloway
It is with the deepest of sadness, our family must announce the passing of our much loved, husband, father and grandfather. Bill fought his illness with courage and hope and passed away at the Sussex Health Center on September 28, 2006 at the age of 68. He was born in Chatham on September 10, 1938. Bill is survived by Tina (Duguay) his beloved wife and best friend of 47 years; his son, Kevin and his wife Ruth Ann of Quispamsis; two daughters: Kathy Smith and her husband Steve of Woodstock, Ontario, Karin Robinson and her husband Steven of Saint John; eight grandchildren: Johnathan and Justin Galloway; Andrew, twins; Emily and Michael and Amy Smith; Riley and Brayden Robinson. He is also survived by his special friends, Wilson and Anne Vickers. He will be dearly missed. Bill was the son of the late Maxwell and Dorothy (Sweezey) Galloway. Bill was supervisor of Petro-Canada Inc. in Saint John before retiring in 1993. He enjoyed traveling to the Miramichi frequently to fly fish, 4 wheeling with his fishing buddy Wilson Vickers. He also enjoyed going to the camp on Wednesdays to play cards and having a gourmet meal. Bill was past President of the Simonds Lions Club and served as Chairman of several Committees. He was also Past Secretary of the Sussex Lions Club. Bill is a Melvin Jones Fellowship recipient, the highest honor conferred by Lions Club International. He was also a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Sussex Branch # 20. Bill and Tina moved to Sussex Corner nine years ago and wintered to Largo, Fla. for many years. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176), with visitation on Friday evening from 7-9 and Saturday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The Royal Canadian Legion, Sussex Branch # 20 will hold a tribute Saturday evening at 6:45. The Funeral Service will be held from St. Paul's United Church on Sunday, October 1, 2006 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Philip Dallimore officiating. Interment will take place at Kirk Hill Cemetery.
