Mrs. Bernice Almetia Sleep of Coles Island, NB, passed away at her residence on August 18, 2006 at the age of 74. Born in Coles Island on February 14, 1932, she was the daughter of the late John L. and Isabelle (Perry) Wood. Bernice is survived by her beloved husband of 55 years, Leon, three daughters, Theresa Miller and her husband Burtis of Highfield, Wanda Grady and her husband Ron of Prescott, Ontario and Janet Kiervin and her husband Kevin of Coles Island; three sons, Kevin and his wife Penny of Nauwigewauk, Gordon of Cambridge and Darren of Youngs Cove; two brothers, Charlie Wood and his wife Marjorie of Canaan and Bev Wood and his wife Eva of Canaan; four sisters, Lizzy Steen of Apohaqui, Dot Daigle and her husband Edmond of Sussex, Hilda Thorne and her husband Ron of Edmonton and Vera Jeffery and her husband Glen of Bagdad; 13 grandchildren: Michelle, Stephanie, Amanda, Jennifer, Travis, Trevor, Tara, Nicholas, Thomas, Corey, Lauren, Jessica and Austin; 10 great grandchildren: Madison, Logan, Mateo, Lana, Noah, Oliver, Wyatt, Ellie, Cameron and Curtis; several nieces and nephews. Bernice was predeceased by her brother Earl. Bernice enjoyed knitting, the outdoors, sun tanning and flowers. She was a member of the Coles Island Baptist Church and the Lions Club. She was a former member of the WI and WMS. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176), with visitation on Monday, August 21, 2006 from 2 -4 and 7-9 pm.
