Obituary of Lura Thompson
Mrs. Lura Louise Thompson was born in Beaver Harbour, she was the daughter of the late Henry W. Best and Stella Maude (Bennett).
At age 15, Lu started her work career in the Sardine Factory in Beaver Harbor and after WWII she married Garnet Thompson and moved to Norton, and later to Sussex.
Lu loved people and for a time she was employed at the Cream Puff Bakery on Broad Street in Sussex.
Lu was always taking care of someone; she looked after both her and Guy's parents and was always doing for others. Family was very important to her and she made the time to visit her sister, brothers and nieces and nephews no matter where they moved to. She loved to cook, travel and play cards, especially crib, 63 and 45's.
Lu was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Sussex, Branch # 20 Ladies Auxiliary.
Lu is survived by Garnet "Guy" Thompson, her beloved husband of 58 years; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Lura Louise Thompson of Sussex, passed away on July 08, 2006 at the age of 91.
Lu was predeceased by her sister, Jennie Cross and by her two brothers: George and Roy.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the compassionate care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176) where visitation will be held on Monday evening from 7-9 .
A service celebrating Mrs Thompson’s life will be held from Trinity Anglican Church on Tuesday, July 11, 2006 at 11:00 am.
