Obituary of Verna Patterson
Mrs. Verna Elizabeth Patterson of Sussex, NB, passed away at Saint John Regional Hospital on June 22, 2006 at the age of 77.
Born in Lower Millstream, NB on February 28, 1929, she was the daughter of the late David and Verna P. (MacAuley) MacDonald and the beloved wife of the late Lloyd G. Patterson who passed away in 1988.
Verna was a member of St. Paul's United Church where she was a former Sunday School Teacher, a member of the UCW and an Elder. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star #33, the Pythian Sisters, the Royal Canadian Legion Sussex Branch #20 Ladies Auxiliary, the Sussex Health Centre Auxiliary, a member of the Red Hatters Society, a former member of the Lower Millstream United Church UCW a former employee of Sears Order Office and Kervs Ladies Wear.
erna is survived by her son, Lloyd and his wife Doreen of Sussex, her daughter, Donna McFarland and Doug Dimmick of Rimbey, Alberta, three brothers, Ken MacDonald and his wife Gertrude of Quispamsis, George MacDonald and his wife Leona of Sussex, Roy MacDonald and his wife Bea of Sussex, two sisters, Ruby Morrison and her husband David of Gondola Point, Alice Chambers of Dartmouth, NS, her sister-in-law, Enid MacDonald of Searsville, five grandchildren, Tony, John and his wife Shawna, Jennifer, Sabrina and Ryan Best, Michael, six great grandchildren, Christian, Braydon, Riley, Ashdon, Jade and Jewel, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Verna was predeceased by her sister, Flora Armstrong, her brother, Ronald and by her brothers-in-law, Harry Chambers and Roy Armstrong .
Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, and (506-433-1176). Visitation will be held at Wallace Funeral Home on Friday evening from 7-9 pm and Saturday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The Royal Canadian Legion Branch #20 Ladies Auxiliary will hold a tribute Saturday evening at 6:30 pm, followed by tributes offered by the Order of the Eastern Star and Pythian sisters.
The Funeral Service will be held from St. Paul's United Church on Sunday, June 25, 2006 at 2:00 pm., followed by a time of fellowship with the family in the Church Hall.
A private family interment will take place at Trinity Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy donations made to St. Paul's United Church, NB Heart and Stroke Foundation or to the memorial of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
