Obituary of Stanley Currie

Mr. Stanley Paul Currie of Hillsdale, NB passed away at Saint John Regional Hospital on June 08, 2006 at the age of 68.

Born in Sussex, NB on April 13, 1938, he was the son of the late Stanley H. and Agnes Tempney (Gilbert) Currie.

Stan is survived by Nancy (Robbins) his beloved wife of 40 years, He was a fantastic father to his 2 daughters, Diane McEwen of Courtney, BC, Candy Bader and her husband Fred of Phelepson, Ontario, 2 sons, Joe of BC, Derek and his wife Jennifer of Orangeville, Ontario. He is also survived by his sister, Hazel Shillito and her husband Bob of Nelson, BC, 14 grandchildren, Damon, Brandon, Ryan, Amber, Jackie, Jessica, Andrew, Joshua, Jonathan, Amanda, Nicholas, Alexander and Makayla, 7 great-grandchildren, Haley, Skyler, Brittany, Kowen, Hanna and Cole, as well as several nieces and nephews and the love of his life, his puppy, Snowball.

Stan was a type setter at the Kings County Record when he was a boy and later worked at Sussex Ginger Ale. He loved sports especially the Toronto Maple Leafs; he loved kids and his community. He loved to have garage sales, play pool, visit the neighbors in Hillsdale to shoot the breeze, He held teen dances, supported minor ball, operated the Canteens in both Rinks, he was a bartender, a Past President of the Minor Hockey League and Recreation League and was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Sussex Branch #20. Stan was a man with a gift as a salesman, he sold menswear, real estate, cars, and he co-owned and operated Country Treasures Antique Shop and Nancy's Eatery in Alston, Ontario before coming back to Sussex.

Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176); At Stan's request there was no visitation or funeral service.

As an expression of sympathy donations made to the memorial of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
