Annie M. McLaughlin of Marysview Seniors Facility, Hampton, NB, formerly of Sussex, passed away at the Saint John Regional Hospital, on February 4, 2006 at the age of 94. Born in Hillsborough, NB on October 20, 1911, she was the daughter of the late Atsell Steeves and Elizabeth (Melvin) Steeves and the wife of the late Clarence A. McLaughlin, who passed away in 2000. Annie is survived by her daughter Audrey Floyd (Russell) of Sussex, NB, her son Dale (Betty Calvin) of Saint John, her daughter-in-law, Shirley McLaughlin of Saint John, two sisters; Ruth Steeves of Moncton and Lena Young of Vernon BC; eight grandchildren; Marilyn Cormier, Larry Lamb and his wife Anna, Stephen Lamb and his wife Marion, Terry Lamb and his wife Lorelei, Gregory Lamb, Cheryl Smith and her husband Alfred, Kevin McLaughlin and his wife Pamela and Pam McLaughlin, 16 great grandchildren; Andrea Docherty and her husband Lindsay, Monica Cormier, Terrance Cormier and his wife Angela, Cerry Lamb and his wife Ginger, Lindsay Lamb, Tracy Lamb, Kristina Lamb, Shannon Lamb, Dale Smith, Matthew Smith, Shawna Smith, Jeremy McLaughlin, Joshua McLaughlin, Justin McLaughlin, Jocelyn McLaughlin and Rebecca Eatmon, nine great-great grandchildren; Alistair Docherty, Keira Docherty, Michaela Savoie, Madeline Cormier, Olivia Cormier, Dillon Lamb, Andrew Lamb, Mallory Brown and Liam Jackson, as well as several nieces and nephews. Annie is predeceased by four brothers; Gordon, Marvin, Walter and Gerald, by four sisters; Ada, Clara, Ida and Dorothy and by one great granddaughter Stacy Smith who passed away in 1997.Annie McLaughlin was known as Mom, Nanny, Nan and Grandma, no matter by what name, she was a very special lady. She was always so elegant and stately yet so loving. She showed genuine caring, not only for her family but for others as well. Annie was always there to listen or to offer advice when needed and she took great interest in what everyone was doing and always encouraged them in all their endeavors. She was so proud of all of her children and grandchildren. She was very caring; she taught Sunday school and loved all the children. She was a fantastic cook. She loved to play cards, solitaire and scat. Annie loved to tell stories about her childhood, especially how she lost the tip off her finger. In earlier years she enjoyed knitting, sewing and crewel work. She was a former sales clerk for MRA's, Calp's and Sears. Annie loved to spend time in PEI in the summers and did so from the time her children were small up to a few years ago. Also, she would spend time at the chalets in Fundy Park where she always loved to picnic. She brought so much love into the lives of those who knew her and never judged people but accepted them as they were, always welcoming people into her home with an open heart. Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Wallace Funeral Home, Sussex, from where visitation was held. The funeral service was held from Sussex United Baptist Church on February 7, 2006 with Rev. Dr. Leo Gallant officiating. The Musical Selections; "In the Garden" and "When the Roll is called up Yonder" were provided by Anne Williams. Interment took place in Fairhaven Memorial Gardens, Salisbury Rd. Moncton NB. The Pallbearers were: Danny Floyd, Stephen Lamb, Kevin McLaughlin, Terry Lamb, Alfie Smith and Terry Cormier
