In 1970 he moved to Newfoundland and worked for IOC until 1977, when he returned to New Brunswick and drove for Corbett & Cooper until his retirement in 1979. He then taught driving for Day & Ross Transport for 2 years and even drove from here to Vancouver. Ross liked the outdoors and would take Paul and Judy camping and fishing at Secord's in Penobsquis. He taught them to play darts, hockey, hunt and fish as well as target shoot. When the kids were teenagers they would have house parties for the teens in the neighborhood and he loved to see them come to the house. He loved to tell stories to kids about swamp sworgans and side hill gougers. He used to love trying to teach all the children to whistle like a loon. Ross was very social and loved children of all ages, he loved to teach them things and spend time with them. He liked to cook breakfast, eat raw bacon and drink molasses. Judy remembers him taking her fly fishing and catching a trout on the line without even a hook. It took him quite a while to untangle the fish from the line. Chrissie remembers him teaching her to drive up on the mountain. Paul remembered his fishing story also. They were out with the canoe on the river. Paul was doing the paddling and the water was high. He kept putting the canoe up on the alders and it tipped over. They had to start a camp fire to dry out. He loved to give Olivia, his great granddaughter, a dollar for the Dollar Store when she came to visit. Jack and Joel would take dad target shooting at the range. Sandra says when they lived in Newfoundland and Nancy was working they would go to the sky lodge to dance and have fun. Sabrina and Brandy remember him coming to visit in Manitoba and playing with them. Leah and Grampa used to go fishing in McLeod's Brook. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176). At Ross's request there will be no visitation.
