Obituary of Grace Monahan
Mrs. Grace Maud Monahan of Sussex, passed away at Saint John Regional Hospital on October 1, 2005, at the age of 84. Born in Cedar Camp on December 9, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Timothy and Maud (Gordon) Carten. She is survived by her beloved husband Bill, her stepson, Murray and his wife Anita of Sussex East, a brother Irvine Carten and his wife Ivy of Urney, two sisters; Elizabeth Connelly of England, Isabel Pothier and her husband Ulysse of Saint John, her sister-in-law, Sylvia Carten of Sussex, three step-grandchildren, Donald and Anick (Maritn) Monahan of Mascouche, Quebec, Allen and Tina Monahan of Cassidy Lake, Sean at home, Two step- great grand children; Jonathan and Megane Monahan, as well as several nieces and nephews. Grace was predeceased by three sisters; Bertha, Mary and Annie, four brothers; Warren, Michael, Russell and Joseph and by her sister-in-law, Jean. Grace worked at many jobs in her early years, she especially enjoyed the ten years she spent with the McAlary Family, Jim and Eric held a special place in her heart. Jim has passed away but she has kept in touch with Eric for the last sixty-four years. Grace was a great bowler and a sharp card player, and enjoyed her Wednesday night card games on the
