Obituary of Sarah McMackin

Mrs. Sarah Elizabeth McMackin of Fowler Ave, Sussex, New Brunswick, passed away unexpectedly at the Sussex Health Centre on May 31, 2005. Born in Castlefin, Donegal Ireland on December 10, 1916, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Adelaide (Buchanan) Meehan and the beloved wife of the late Joseph McMackin, who passed away in 1999. Sarah is survived by 5 daughters; Josie Beyea and her husband Bert of Quispamsis, Mary Mahoney of Moncton, Roberta Bourque and her husband Ronnie of Quispamsis, Donna McPhee and her husband Mike of Quispamsis, Barb Seely and her husband Norman of Rothesay, 7 sons; Jim and his wife Ruth of Quispamsis, Elward and his wife Phyllis of Hampton, David of Sussex, Joe and his wife Barb of Hammondvale, Andrew and his wife Maureen of Burlington, Ontario, Patrick and his wife Ruby of Sussex, Henry and his wife Rhonda of Hamilton, Ontario, her sister, Isabelle Cunningham of Jeffries Corner, 2 brothers; Hughie Meehan and his wife Elsie and Bob Meehan both of Sussex, 35 grandchildren; Vincent, Joseph, Elward, Elizabeth, James, Michael, Michelle, Joanne, Christopher, Patrick, Andrew, Anthony, Beth, Lisa, Todd, Scott, Lindsey, Jessica, John, Darren, Colleen, Rebecca, Lana, Melissa, Ryan, Maureen, Mark, Andy, Dina, Shane, Matthew, David, Sarah, Jolene and Troy, 27 great grandchildren; Victor, Benjamin, Brittany, Brooke, Kevin, Amy, Clare, Brody, Emily, Carter, Sarah, Nicholas, Daniel, Maggie, Luke, John, Robert, James, Reese, Mia, Neven, Carter, Mirissa, Peter, Joseph, Andrew, and Haily as well as nieces and nephews. Sarah was predeceased by a daughter, Anna Rose, 2 sons, Bernard and Simon Peter, 4 sisters; Maggie, Molly, Adelaide and Eileen and 4 brothers, Moses, Andrew, James and Daniel. Sarah and her family immigrated to the Sussex area in 1928 and settled in Hammondvale where she spent the greater part of her life. Sarah was a member of St. Francis Xavier RC Church in Sussex and St. Anthony's RC Church in Upham. Sarah was known and loved by her community; she was an avid card player, a great reader and enjoyed her bowling league. She was a loving mother, mother-in-law, a beloved grandmother and great grandmother. She will be greatly missed by us all. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176), with visitation on Wednesday, 2-4, & 7-9 pm and Thursday 2-4 & 7-9 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Francis Xavier Roman Catholic Church on Friday, June 3, 2005 at 11:00 am Interment at Wards Creek Cemetery. There will be a time of fellowship with the family in the church hall following the committal service.
