Obituary of Ida Mercer
Mrs. Ida May (Snowie) Mercer of Ratters Corner, passed away at Sussex Health Centre on March 30, 2005 at the age of 78. Snowie was born in Ireland, on January 29, 1927, the daughter of the late Thomas and Martha E. (Abraham) McConnell and the beloved wife of the late Hazen Herbert Mercer who passed away January 10, 2005. Snowie is survived by her 5 daughters, Jennie MacDonald and her husband Ralph of Sussex, Paulette Mitton and her husband Bob of Ratters Corner, Bonita Lackie and her husband Ed of Rattters Corner, Brenda Mercer of Kalowna, BC and Pamela McDermott and her husband John of Quirk Road, Sussex, 5 sons, Wayne and his wife Joyce of Picadilly, Joe and his wife Pat of Sussex, Ronnie and his wife Deborah of Guelph, Bard and his wife Cheryl of Saskatchewan and Trent of Ratters Corner, her daughter-in-law, Shirley Mercer of Smith Creek, her brother, Stanley McConnell and his wife Emily of Centreville, 29 grandchildren, Kelly, Wade, Shane, Jake, Bobbie-Jo, Mark, Josie, Justin, Stephanie, Megan, Celia, Laura, Joseph, Bradley, Stephanie, Matthew, Jackie, Derrick, Scott, Holly, Joseph Jr., Troy, Trent, Angie, Anthony, Hazen, Cory, Brandon and Sarah, 34 great-grandchildren, Jordan, Morgan, Connar, MacKenzie, Quinn, Tyler, Aiden, Breanna, Jordan, Logan, Karson, Keith, Nicholas, Erin, Felecia, Chelsie, Joseph, Derica, Mercedes, Cheyenne, Christopher, Kiaer, Isbella, Anastasia, Hazen, Tyrus, Xavier, Michael, Nicole, Andrew, Nikita, Alysha, Angelina, Alexia, 2 great great grandchildren, Joselyn Charmine, several nieces and nephews. Snowie was predeceased by her sons, Earl and John, 9 brothers, Joe, Billy, Jack, Andy, Bobby, Jim, Donald, Raymond and Cecil and her 4 sisters, Elizabeth, Ivy, Olive and Violet. Snowie's family was very important to her. She was a member of the PC Party and the Southfield United Church. Snowie was a former employee of Canada Packers and Loughery Nursing Home. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176), with visitation on Thursday 2-4, 7-9. The Funeral Service will be from Wallace Memorial Chapel on Friday, April 1, 2005 at 11:00 am Rev. Mary Wanamaker officiating. Interment will take place at Trinity Cemetery in the spring.
