Obituary of Rick MacVicar

Rick MacVicar was born in Saint John on February 17, 1957; he was the son of the late Clifford and Sandra (Warring) MacVicar. Rick lived the first two years of his life in Mascarene, St. George. From then on, he moved many times throughout the years. He lived in Saint John, Dartmouth, Smith Creek and many other places. He went to school at Ketepec Elementery, on to Westfield for Junior High and finally to Sussex High School where he ended up leaving in grade ten. Rick had several jobs until he settled on being a carpenter. He could build anything and gained a lot of respect for his craft. He was also well known for his ability to cook. He helped raise his brothers and sisters so they had plenty of opportunity to enjoy his cooking. His favorite food was molasses cake with peanut butter icing but he was very much a meat and potatoes man. Rick enjoyed fishing, four wheeling, clam digging and being at his camp. He loved to tell stories and often told the same story more than once. He always put everyone else before himself. He loved children and would take them under his wing as he had always been a kid at heart. He especially loved his own children, Christa, Katy, Scott, Jeff and Allan. They were his life and he would do whatever he could to help them. Family was first with Rick. He was a wonderful Dad, brother, uncle and friend. Everyone was made to feel welcome in his home and he made lots of friends over the years. He will be remembered by all who met him. Before leaving or hanging up the phone, Rick always ended with "Very Best", so until we meet again, "Very Best". Rick will live on in the hearts of his two daughters: Christa MacVicar (Trevor Sutherland) of Riverview, Katy MacVicar (Kenny Thibodeau) of Moncton, three sons: Scott MacVicar and his wife Alanna of Badjeros, ON, Jeff Taylor (Sarah) of East Scotch Settlement, Allan Taylor and his wife Wendy of Eugenia, ON: four sisters: Janice Trites and her husband Mark of Berwick, Sharron Dunfield of St. George, Holly Sawler ( Gerald Cook) of Roachville and Candice Sawler of Mississauga, ON; three brothers: Bob MacVicar (Roberta Beechin) of Sussex, Bernie Sawler (Doreen Green) of Saint John and Rian McVicar (Lanie Martin) of Millstream; 11Grandchildren: Austin, Eric, Caleigh, Taylor, Hannah, Cameron, Emily, Nathaniel, Jewels, Abby and Emma; as well as several nieces and nephews.
