Dorothy is survived by 3 Daughters Lorraine Gallant and her husband Al of North Bay, Ont., Alice Arbuckle and her husband Bob of Ottawa, Ont., Julia Mountain and her husband Tom of Chatham, Ont., a Daughter-in-law Sheila O'Donnell of Aylesford, NS, 8 Grandchildren Shannon, Christopher, Susan, Daniel, Kimberly, Wayne, Shawn, and Colin, 8 Great Grandchildren; Derrick, Alicia, Breanne, Jessica, Brendan, Jana, Lauren and Karly, sister-in-law, Phyllis McShane, Piccadilly, as well as several nieces and nephews; Joan Mallory and her husband Donald, Mona Mallory and her husband Reynold, Ronnie McShane and his wife Rose, Lois Carr and her husband Peter, Joyce Virtue and her husband Wayne, Faye Monahan and her husband Frank, Karen Kilpatrick and he husband Philip, David McShane and his wife Dorothy, Tommy McShane and his wife Mildred, Delbert McShane and his wife Alice, Sheila Smith and JR Rogers, and Claude McShane and his wife Debbie. Dorothy was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was predeceased by a son Walter who passed away in 1995 and by an infant son Thomas Frances, and also by 4 Brothers Crandall, Delbert, Frank, and Frederick. Dorothy was a member of St. Francis Xavier where she was a member of the CWL for more than 50 years. She was an avid reader and enjoyed making quilts for the family, knitting socks, slippers and mitts which she gave away and in her early years, she liked to draw especially horses in full harness. Dorothy loved her children and grandchildren, their friends were always welcome for dinner and many would stay the night. She was very disappointed that none of her children remained in Sussex or even in N.B but always looked forward to their visits, calls and letters. Dorothy was a loyal friend and will always be fondly remembered for her kindness and her great sense of humour. She could turn sad times around and make happy times even happier. Dorothy had a quick wit and could come up with witty sayings and rhymes on the spur of the moment. Dorothy was the kind of parent that we all aspire to be to our children. She was always there for us, she gave us our sense of humour and our loyalty to each other. Even though Dorothy lived to be almost 94 years old, it just doesn't seem long enough. Dorothy leaves a tremendous void in our hearts and lives and will be greatly missed by us all. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176), where visitation will be held on Tuesday 2-4, 7-9pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Francis Xavier on Wednesday, January 26, 2005 at 11:00 am, followed by a time of fellowship with the family in church hall. The interment will be in Wards Creek Cemetery in the spring.
