Mr. Angus 'Gus' Walker of Roachville, NB passed away on January 16, 2005 at the age of 80. Born in Meductic, NB on June 18, 1924, he was the son of the late Alexander and Mary Ann (Campbell Mann) Walker. Gus is survived by Lena Marie (DeYoung) his beloved wife of 58 years, 4 daughters; Monica Francis and her husband Stewart of Halifax, NS, Brenda Lamb of Sussex, Pam Corby and her husband Bill of Fredericton, Tracy Titus and her husband Don of Roachville, 13 grandchildren; Lindsay, Tracy, Jennifer, Jaclyn, Kristina, Megan, Leah, Katelyn, Michael, Maria, Andrew, Jill and Laura, as well as several nieces and nephews Gus was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Gus was predceased by his son Gilland, 2 sisters; Nellie Hillman and Irene Walker and by 4 brothers; George, Frank Jack, Alan. In his late teens, Gus enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force and went on to serve in World War II as a Flying Officer on the Lancaster bomber. While in combat, he was shot down over Germany and captured by the German military. He was held as a Prisoner of War for 15 months. Gus was self-employed for many years, and operated Walker's T.V. Sales and Service in Rothesay, NB. Once retired, Gus and Lena soon realized that they wanted to move to Sussex, where they could be closer to family. Gus cherished the time that he spent with his grandchildren. He was always interested in knowing about their grades in school, their careers and their sports involvement. He loved to be a part of their lives. Grampy enjoyed spending time with close friends and family, and loved playing a game of crib, always betting a loonie, and we can't forget about his favourite pass time of scratching Crossword tickets?."Are you going downtown...pick me up a couple of scratchers, wouldcha?" In most recent years, you would always find Grampy watching CNN and keeping on top of all current events- except for that one hour a day, when he was busy watching Bob Barker and The Price Is Right. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176), with visitation on Tuesday 2-4, 7-9pm. The Royal Canadian Legion Sussex Branch # 20 will hold a tribute Tuesday evening at 6:45pm. The Funeral Service will be from Wallace Memorial Chapel on Wednesday, January 19, 2005 at 2:00 pm. As an expression of sympathy, donations made to the Canadian Red Cross would be appreciated by the family.
