Obituary of Philip Titus
Mr. Philip James Thomas Titus of Wynwood Dr. Moncton, NB passed away at Moncton Hospital on September 10, 2004 at the age of 56. Born in Saint John on October 17, 1947, Philip was the son of Marion (MacKenzie) Titus of Sussex and the late Hazen Titus. Philip is survived by his mother, his wife Kathryn (Templeton) Titus; 2 daughters; Andrea Skedgel and her husband Gray of Ottawa and Jennifer Titus of Halifax, his son Garth Titus at home, his brother David and his wife Judy of Sussex, his grandson Liam, as well as several nieces and nephews. As a youngster, Phil enjoyed camping trips at Fundy, Grand Lake and Lisson Settlement with Marion, Hazen and his brother David. He often talked about all the fun the family had camping for three or four week at a time. Phil fondly remembered his experiences growing up in Sussex Corner - summer adventures up on "the hill" and working at Mac's Grocery. Phil enjoyed school, but only as a social event. After graduation he held various clerical positions in Sussex and Saint John. His career was briefly interrupted by the "big adventure" when he and three buddies drove to British Columbia. This trip occurred, by the way, immediately after proposing to a lovely young lady, Kathryn Templeton. Upon his return, Phil and Kathy were married and from that marriage came three beautiful children of whom he was very proud. Phil was always there to straighten things out, watching from the sidelines and guiding with a long leash. He enjoyed their friends and encouraged them to visit often, especially "the guys" this past summer. As an avid sports fan, Phil kept close tabs on the Montreal Canadiens and baseball. In his youth he played hockey and baseball. As he grew older he was involved in bowling. Prior to moving to Nova Scotia, Phil was involved with the Sussex Corner recreation council and spent many cold nights flooding the rink for the kids. Philip made friends wherever he went - always generous with his time, loved a good argument and ready to help a friend in need. His kindness and generosity will always be an inspiration. Forever in our hearts he will be missed. Philip retired from the former Lockhart's Beaver Lumber in Sussex. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176), where visitation will be held on Monday evening from 7-9pm. The Funeral Service will be from Wallace Memorial Chapel on Tuesday, September 14, 2004 at 11:00 am.
