Obituary of James Dickson
James Marven Dickson of Sussex, NB passed away at home on August 28th, 2004 at the age of 78. Born in Upper Napan, NB on December 25th, 1925, Jim was the fourth child of 5 children born to Elmer and Susan (Murdock) Dickson. As the story goes, his three older sisters, Helen, Marjorie and Stella had to await his birth before enjoying the evening Christmas meal. Jim was a devoted husband and a loving father. It has been said that the greatest thing a father can do for his children is to love their mother. ? He did that! To lose Vera, his partner on life's journey on March 8th, 2002 left an enormous void in his life. Jim and Vera were wed on July 15th, 1944 and were blessed with a daughter Leona and a son Jubal. As a young man Jim held many jobs before joining Canada-Packers Shur-Gain in 1952 in Miramichi. In 1954, Jim and his family were transferred to Bathurst and in 1959 they were transferred to Sussex where he served as a maintenance Supervisor. He serviced feed mills in Sussex, Petitcodiac, and Woodstock. He maintained feed tanks at chicken farms until retirement on December 29th, 1989 at the age of 64. He was proud to be a member of the Shur-Gain Quarter Century Club and looked forward to the yearly get together, and he was also a member of St. Paul's United Church. Jim was a lover of country music, especially the local shows and entertainers. He played the violin, the juice harp and the mouth organ. He loved to travel, enjoyed comedy shows, card games with friends, old vehicles especially one old white and red Ford truck. He was also a collector of
