Obituary of Lorna Quartermain
Lorna passed away at her residence on August 23, 2004 at the age of 76. Lorna entered the world during what was known as the roaring 20's. Born in Dutch Valley, NB on October 25, 1927, she grew up on a farm in rural New Brunswick, and was the 3rd of seven children surviving the depression and World War II. Lorna was the daughter of the late Herbert J. and Edna M. (McFarlane) Yeomans and the beloved wife of the late Mansell Quartermain who passed away in 1994. Growing up on a farm meant plenty work for everyone, lists of chores were eventually done and it was off to school. Lorna always did well in school, most times the head of her class. It makes sense that she pursued teaching in adult-hood. Summer was great, it was the time to stake out a favorite swimming hole, walk the forest in search of maycherry trees with her brothers and sisters who were her best friends. The summers didn't seem quite long enough back then. Lorna was relied upon by her mom to help with the responsibility of household and later caring for her mother when she fell ill. She truly understood the meaning of the word
