Obituary of Gilbert Branscombe
Mr. J. Gilbert P. Branscombe of Sussex Corner, New Brunswick, passed away at Sussex Health Centre on July 29, 2004 at the age of 66. Gilbert was born in Sussex on March 17, 1938, he was the son of the late J. Gilbert Branscombe and Frances (Whalen) Branscombe-Hanley. Gilbert is survived by his beloved wife M. Alice (Cummings), his daughter, Lorie F. Toupin and her husband Andre of Truro, NS, his son, Shane G. Branscombe and his wife Laurie of Halifax, NS, 3 brothers, Murray Branscombe and his wife June of Belleville, Ontario, Thomas Hanley and his wife Carol Ann of Fredericton and Patrick Hanley and his wife, Moira of New Zealand, 4 sisters, Edna Miklos of Lethridge, Alberta, Doris Branscombe of Montreal, Serena Renner and her husband Paul of Sussex Corner and Glenna Hanley of St. Albert, Alberta, a sister-in-law, Jean Branscombe of Fredericton, a brother-in-law Warren Mason of Newtown, 2 grandsons, Michael and Zachary, his granddaughter, Madison, as well as several nieces and nephews. Gilbert was predeceased by his step-father Thomas Hanley, his brother, Michael Ward and by his sister, Marita Mason, and his brother-in-law Steve Miklos. Gilbert was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch # 20, a former member of the 8th Hussars Reserve and a member of Saint Frances Xavier Church. Gilbert was a retired employee of Potash Corporation of Saskatchewan where he was a heavy equipment mechanic. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176), with visitation on Saturday 7-9 pm, Sunday 2-4, 7-9 pm. The Royal Canadian Legion Sussex Branch # 20 will hold a tribute Sunday at 6:45 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Francis Xavier Roman Catholic Church on Monday, August 2, 2004 at 11:00 am with Fr. Peter Bagley officiating. The interment will take place at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Cemetery, Norton. There will be a time of fellowship with the family at the Sacred Heart Church Hall following the committal service.
