Obituary of George McFarland

Mr. George James McFarland of Ridgewood Veterans Wing, Saint John, New Brunswick passed away at his residence on June 27, 2004 at the age 81.

Born in Urney, NB on April 13, 1923, he was the son of the late James McFarland and Marion (Proctor) McFarland and the husband of the late Muriel (Hazelton) McFarland who passed away in 1995.

George is survived by 5 daughters, Lorna Gorber and her husband Sam of Moncton, Marion Cormier and her husband Paul of Moncton, Judy Dignard and her husband Tim of Moncton, Sandra Wylie and her husband Charlie of Quispamsis, Karen Gagnon of Miramichi, 2 sons Ralph of Moncton, Bill and his wife Lisa of Saint John, his brother Clarence McFarland and his wife Madeline of Sussex, 13 grandchildren Jessica, Jonathon, Paul, Kevin, Jamie, Holly, Timothy, Jason, Aaron, Bradley, Adam, Kristen, and Alexander, 4 great grandchildren; Bradley, Brady, Jaden and Kylie, as well as several nieces and nephews.

George was predeceased by his step mother Grace (Proctor) McFarland, his brother Donald and by a grandson Charles Timothy Wylie who passed away in 1983.

George served during WWII with the 6th Antitank Artillery Regiment in the Canadian Army. He was the bakery manager at IGA in Saint John, and later a commissioner at the Saint John Water St. Park.

Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176), with visitation on Monday 2-4, 7-9 pm.

The Royal Canadian Legion Sussex Branch # 20 will hold a tribute Monday evening at 6:45pm The Funeral Service will be from Wallace Memorial Chapel on Tuesday, June 29, 2004 at 2:00pm.

Interment at Trinity Cemetery.
