Obituary of George Murphy
Mr. George Erold Murphy of the Kiwanis Nursing Home and formerly of Norton, NB passed away at his residence on May 3, 2004 at the age of 92. Born in Millstream, NB on August 16, 1911, he was the son of the late Frederick and Jessie (Northrup) Murphy. George is survived by Verna his beloved wife of 66 years, 5 daughters; Doris Everett and her husband George of Oshawa, Ontario, Shirley Adler and her husband George of Etobicoke, Ontario, Dianne Bursey and her husband Gord of Sarnia, Ontario, Vivian Mercer and her husband Lawrence of Norton, Sheila McCrea and her husband Jim of Pearsonville, 3 sons; Preston, Wayne both of Ontario; Donald and wife Angela of Norton.his sister, Phyllis Green of Apohaqui, 20 grandchildren as well as several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. George was predeceased by his son Walter who passed away in 1996, by his sisters, Eunice Coleman and Irene Fenton and by his brothers Hawlie, Preston and Fred. George was a resident of Personville, NB for over 70 years, He worked in construction and logging for the greater part of his life, his favorite hobby was making home-made Axe Handles, which he was well known for. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176), with visitation on Tuesday 7-9 & Wednesday 2-4, 7-9pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from Wallace Memorial Chapel on Thursday, May 6, 2004 at 10:00 am. with the interment to follow at St. Phillips Catholic Cemetery, Head of Millstream. There will be a time of fellowship with the family at the Collina Hall following the committal.
